What stays on your Mac
- Your library: every image and video, and the database holding prompts, projects, ratings, notes and history. It lives in a folder you choose and is never uploaded for storage.
- Your Chitra Studio sign-in token, kept in the macOS Keychain.
What is sent when you generate
- The prompt, the settings and any reference images for that request go to our service, which passes them to the model provider to produce the result. Our service removes prompts, input content and result URLs from completed or failed requests once the request is at least 30 days old, during scheduled maintenance. Unresolved requests remain available until their payment outcome is settled. Minimal billing and request-identity records remain. Reference images are stored with the model provider under its retention rules.
- Improve Prompt with AI and Analyze send the prompt, and for Analyze the image, to a language model through our service.
Generation and AI assistance are routed through our model provider and the selected underlying model. The model provider hosts uploaded references and generated results under its own retention policy. Account infrastructure runs on Cloudflare. Provider-held files and infrastructure backups have separate retention schedules; deleting an account from our service does not immediately erase those copies. Results are downloaded to your Mac.
What our service stores about you
- Your email address, used to sign you in and to contact you about your account.
- Your credit balance and a record of purchases, grants and spending.
- A record of each request paid with credits: the model, the time, the charge and the outcome.
- The names of the devices you signed in on, and a one-way hash of each device's token. We cannot recover the token itself.
- Operational logs. These record events such as "a job completed" with an account identifier. They do not contain prompts, tokens or email addresses.
- To limit abuse, a one-way hash of the network address used to request sign-in links or create an account, kept for up to 24 hours.
Usage statistics
- The app tells our service how many times each feature was used (for example "animate: 3"), its own version and the version of macOS. It never sends prompts, pictures, file names or project names with these counts. The report carries a random identifier made on your Mac for this purpose, which is not linked to your account or your email address; we keep only a one-way hash of it. You can switch this off in Settings → Workspace → About ("Share anonymous usage statistics").
- Each generation is recorded with the feature it came from (such as "edit" or "text to video") alongside the model, so that we can see which are used.
- This website counts page views and clicks on the download button. It uses no cookies. To count a visitor once a day it makes a one-way hash of the date, the network address and the browser, which changes every day and is deleted within two days; the address itself is not stored. It also records the site that linked to us and your country. If your browser sends Do Not Track, nothing is counted.
We use these figures ourselves, to decide what to build and to see how people find us. They are not shared or sold.
Payments
Purchases are handled by Dodo Payments, which acts as the seller of record. Dodo collects your payment details; we never see your card number. We receive confirmation of the purchase and its amount. Dodo keeps your payment method so that the yearly licence can renew, until you turn renewal off.
Sign-in emails are sent through Zoho ZeptoMail. We do not send marketing email without your agreement.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not use your prompts, images or video to train models.
- The app and this website contain no advertising and no third-party analytics or trackers.
Your choices
- Sign out, or revoke a device, in Settings → Account.
- To have your account and its records deleted, or to get a copy of them, write to support@chitra.studio. We keep purchase records where the law requires it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so in the app or by email before the change takes effect.
