How to Improve Prompts for Image and Video with AI

Most of us write prompts the way we would describe a picture to a friend: a subject, a place, a mood. Image models do better with what a photographer would say: the shot, the lens, the light, the materials, the colours.

A shot. "Fashion portrait" became "editorial fashion portrait, captured in a three-quarter pose"; a spice stall became an "eye-level medium shot".
Light, named precisely. Direct late-afternoon sun, candlelight at night, lantern light at dusk.
Materials and textures. Aso-oke weave, carved granite, beeswax, brass.

Tips
Put the things you care about in your line. The colours, the place, the one detail that matters: Improve builds around them.
Read before you generate. If it added something you do not want, take it out. It is your prompt.
